Hundreds of indigenous Panamanians on Sept. 17 began a 500 kilometer (313-mile) march from Bocas del Toro, near the Costa Rican border to Panama City to urge President Ricardo Martinelli to cancel mining and hydroelectric projects on their lands.  The march, which is scheduled to finish on Oct. 12, is to pressure Martinelli — a right-wing business owner who took office July 1 — to cancel the concessions he promised in his election campaign… go to article
