Kevin Rudd indicated that in the last year after the official apology to Aboriginal people the government has helped to improve Aboriginal access to health care, education, and housing. Rudd stressed that these improvements would take time, and that a new coordinator-general had been appointed to manage the process. The government hopes to have Aboriginal life expectancy targets equal to those of the non-indigenous Australian population within a generation. go to article
