With a fresh batch of eviction notices delivered in the last week, many by bailiff, a group of Kahnawake women has called for a halt to the evictions of non-aboriginals living in the community. In a petition being circulated in the Mohawk community on Montreal’s South Shore, the Mohawk women are demanding that the local band council “refrain from any further action” regarding the controversial evictions.
